Valentine's Day

Legally Blonde

We’ve been a little slow about updating the blog recently. I guess it’s because we spend way too much time house shopping. Anyway, to briefly debrief on V-day, it turned out differently than expected, but we were both pleasantly surprised. The original plan was to go to a nice dinner at Spencer’s, but things changed Saturday afternoon around 2:00pm. To make a long story short, we were offered two tickets to go see Legally Blonde and couldn’t change our reservation at the restaurant. So, in lieu of dinner out on the town, we headed over to Central Market and I “prepared” a candlelight dinner for us at home. It actually turned out great!

Globetrotters

The other week, Carlos asked if we wanted to go check out the Harlem Globetrotters. Thinking back to my childhood, I thought, “Sounds like fun. I’d like to see some people do some really cool tricks with basketballs.” What I didn’t realize about the show, though, is that it was totally geared towards little kids! While I tried to remain upbeat about the show, it turned out to be extremely cheesy and more appropriate for 7-year olds. I guess the next time I’ll be checking it out (if ever) is when Diane and I have kids that age.

Thank You, Denny's

Denny's

I’m writing prematurely, but based upon what it’s advertising, I wish to thank Denny’s for the FREE grand slam breakfast that Diane and I are going to enjoy tomorrow morning. You heard me, right: FREE BREAKFAST. 🙂 See you there.

Monster Truck Show

For a couple of years now, I’ve been wanting to go to a monster truck show. Everybody has told me they’re super fun, so Diane and I decided to go with Jason and Erin this past weekend. In fact, we decided to make it all afternoon car event (we hit up the Houston Auto Show beforehand).

The car show was pretty fun–a bit smaller than most other shows I’ve been to. However, I got to dream about some cars. One of the best moments was when we stopped by the section where they showed of modified vehicles (i.e., third-party upgrades). We saw a Bentley, a Ferrari or two, a Lambo, several Porsches, and…a Smart car! That’s right, baby. In the crowd of $100K+ cars was our (future) little Smart car. We’ll be high rollers once it arrives in 13 months. 🙂

OK, so now for the monster truck show. It was so loud! Good thing Diane brought some earplugs because it saved both of us. The first part of the show was pretty boring (where the monster trucks raced in a circle going over jumps). I enjoye the race with lots of small, everyday vehicles and the freestyle monster truck portion. It was cool to see one do a wheelie across the stadium and to see a few of them wreck, roll, and flip.
